Easy, fun, and rewarding – just bring a bit of patience!

Microcement DIY is easy and fun — but it’s not a race. Each layer needs proper drying time, and attention to detail will make all the difference.
By doing it yourself, not only do you get to enjoy the hands-on creative process, but you also save a ton of money compared to hiring a pro. So roll up your sleeves, take your time, and let’s get into it.

1. Surface Prep – The Foundation of a Great Finish
Before anything, make sure your surface is smooth and even, just like you would for painting. Microcement is applied in thin layers, so any cracks or uneven areas will show through.
• Fill all gaps and faults.
• Tape off areas you want to keep clean — and pro tip: use new tape for each layer, because dried layers make tape hard to remove later.

2. Mesh & Primer – Start Strong
Apply mesh to your surface, then cover it with 2 layers of Micro Primer using a roller.
• Let each layer dry for 5 hours before continuing.
• Primer helps with bonding and strengthens the base.

3. Mixing Magic – Get the Blend Right
Now it’s time to mix!
• Ratio: 1 part emulsion + 3 parts microcement powder.
• Important: Always add the powder into the emulsion — not the other way around!
• Stir it thoroughly for at least 5 minutes until smooth.

By default, microcement is white. We pre-mix your chosen color into the emulsion. If you’re feeling creative, you can use any water-based acrylic color to tint it yourself.

4. Application Time – Thin is In
Apply microcement in 2 layers with a trowel.
→ For floors, go with 3 layers for extra durability.
• Keep your layers thin — especially the first one.
• Use the mix within 30 hours and keep the lid closed to avoid drying.
• Allow 8 hours of drying time per layer.

5. Sanding – For that Smooth Finish
Once each layer dries:
• Wait 4–5 hours, then sand it.
• Don’t wait too long — the longer it sits, the harder it gets!
• Use sanding papers between #80 and #220, depending on the layer and smoothness you want.
• Wipe off all dust with a clean cloth before sealing.

6. Sealer – Lock It In
Roll on 2 layers of sealer to protect your masterpiece.
• Let each layer dry for 5 hours before the next step.

7. Topcoat – The Final Shield
Apply 2 layers of topcoat with a roller.
• Dry time is 8 hours between layers.
• If your topcoat comes with a hardener, mix it in a 1:4 ratio (1 part hardener to 4 parts topcoat).
• Apply quickly! It thickens fast.
• After the final layer, let it cure for 7 full days — no water, no walking, no cleaning.

Note: The topcoat is a bit sticky when fresh — keep dust and loose stuff away.

Safety First!
• Wear gloves, goggles, and a mask while mixing and sanding.
• Do not ingest or let the material come into contact with your eyes or mouth.
• Keep away from children and pets.
• Wash hands thoroughly after use.
